Q: How do I send / reply to a text message on my phone?
A: If you are having trouble replying to a text message please visit your providers web site (below) to learn more information about sending and receiving text messages. Some of these sites may ask you to select the phone you are currently using in order to view the instructions for text messaging.

Provider List

  • T-Mobile
  • Verizon
  • AllTel
  • Sprint / Nextel
  • ATT / Cingular
  • ArchWireless
  • Virgin Mobile
  • Q: How do I reply to an alert on my BlackBerry device?
A: All BlackBerry devices function differently than normal mobile phones. When you setup your Blackberry device in ReadyAlert please make sure to type in your 10-digit number then select the "Your Provider Blackberry" option from the drop down provider menu under the Mobile Phone or PDA field. If you send an alert to the Blackberry device and you do NOT get the alert but the alert reports show the device as being confirmed you probably have Web Services enabled on your Blackberry device and have changed your "Core Name" for how text messaging is sent to your Blackberry. You will need to call your provider or visit https://bis.na.blackberry.com/html?brand=nextel to figure out how to change this or follow the instructions below on how to use your "Core Name" to send alerts to your Blackberry device...

Using 'Core Name' for Blackberry Text Messaging:
List your new mobile address in ReadyAlert under the PDA field not the Mobile Phone field. You will need to type out your entire email address including the domain. Below are a few of domains according to the provider....

    Nextel: @nextel.blackberry.net
    T-Mobile: @tmo.blackberry.net
    Sprint: @sprint.blackberry.net
    Cingular: @mycingular.blackberry.net
    Alltel: @alltel.blackberry.net

Once this is done you will need to re-verify your device and then try sending alerts again. If the problem persists contact support@readyalert.com.

Q: I don't see a reply button on my phone. Where is it?
A: If you do not see a reply option on your phone you may need to contact your provider to enable it. Almost all Nextel phones have their reply option disabled and you will need to contact your provider to enable it. If you are unsure of how to reply on your cell phone see "How do I send / reply to a text message on my phone?".

Q: I have verizon and I am getting my alerts late or not at all. Why?
A: If you have Verizon and are having problems receiving text message alerts you may have old software on your phone. Per Verizon, mobile phone software should be updated every 6 to 8 months.

Please follow these steps to check if you are having this problem: Call 1.866.788.9387 and select option #2. A Verizon technician will help you. Tell them you are not getting text messages and believe your mobile phone software version may be old.

Q: I'm not receiving text messages on my ATT/Cingular mobile phone?
A: The ATT/Cingular corporation went through a merger and when this happened some of their text messaging service addresses changed. If your mobile device is listed in ReadyAlert as 10-digitnumber@mobile.att.net and you are not receiving your alerts then try changing your provider to 'ATT/Motorola' which will make your new address 10-digitnumber@mmode.com. If you are still having problems receiving alerts after the switch you will need to contact your service provider.
